artist's residence A repeat client for DCA wanted to extend her existing entrance to become a unique art gallery space and create a boundary for a new outdoor pool area. Facing this structure at the opposite end of the pool is a studio space that is large enough to also function as a plant storage and preparation room. There is also a restroom/changeroom to accomodate pool guests. The roof of the "plant studio" was specifically designed to maximize solar gain, and a solar hot water heater was installed to capture this passive heat source, with significant energy and cost savings as a result of this system. Nominated for AIA Award for Design Excellence.
