deyoung memorial chapel The De Young Memorial Chapel, located in downtown Stockton, has a long history with the City, providing service to the community for over 119 years. DCA was hired in 2004 to assist in a broad remodeling effort, which involved two buildings on the site of California Street and Oak Street. The main building includes four chapels, four visitation rooms, a casket display room, and numerous offices. Work in this building involved a general overhaul of the interiors, the addition of a new elevator in the main lobby, and architectural improvements to the lobby and main family arrangements office, which were expanded to provide more space and light and to create a more pleasant atmosphere. DCA was also involved in the selection of all new furniture and art for the entire building. Special care was taken to retain the historic quality of the building, while providing modern features such as energy efficient lighting, zero-VOC fabrics and carpeting, and a more contemporary color scheme.
